How to: Cropping and Resizing Images
Ok, so you've found an image you want to share with everyone,
now what?
Well first of all you have to be sure that it is not on the site already. But if
it's
not here's what you do.
Buddy icons should be either 48x48 pixels or 50x50 pixels. If it
is, then go ahead and upload the icon and quit wasting time!
If not, here's how to crop it to the right size...
- Open the image file with an image editing program (Adobe Photoshop, Jasc
Paintshop Pro, etc.).
- Next you have to find the Cropping tool, which looks like this:

Once you have the Cropping tool selected it's time to get cropping.
In this example I will be using a display picture, so if you were looking for
emoticon's or backgrounds
you can follow the same instructions, just make sure the size corresponds with
the table above.
The part that you select with the cropping tool is what you will be using, so
try to keep what you want
in the center of the image, i.e. a persons face. Also try to make the area you
are selecting as much of a
square as possible, to try to prevent a distorted look to the image.

Once you have selected an area with the cropping tool then you right click
inside the highlighted area
and select Crop.

Ok, once you have cropped the area you have to now make sure the image is the
correct size. You can
do this by going to Image and selecting Image Size.

Remember to make it the right size, or you wont be able to upload the image.
For buddy icons, I suggest making it 48x48 pixels and keeping it under 8 KB in
size.

Once you have verified that it is that size, just Save and upload the image
to the category on MyBuddyIcons!
Not quite sure how to upload?
